As we enter
our 10th year rockin the area it is a
great time to reflect on some of the past memories. There are far too many and I am sure each
member has some highlights all different from the rest. Here are some that stand out to me!
April of 2002
was the very first time that Bad Medicine took to the stage. It was at the International Room at the
Executive Inn in
In September
of 03 we went into the studio and did a 5 song demo disc. Awesome experience and a
great opportunity for the original lineup to put something together that we
could all have forever.
February of 04 Gary Blackburn the
original bass player had fallen ill and Andy Wyant stepped in on the bass which
led to a great 5 year run with the band.
March of 04
the band lost Mr. Gary Blackburn to Liver Cancer. I will always remember
April of 04
we played a fundraiser for
In Oct. of 06
we had to say goodbye to Scott Ledbetter….our original drummer and one of the
founding members of our group. His wife
Mary had become sick and he had to step away.
He hung on until the end of the year and played his final show on NYE
06.
The beginning
of 07 brought us John Murphy to the lineup on the drums. John was a great asset to the band but was
with us a short 6 months. At this point
New Years 07
was the last time that Scott Ledbetter played with us. It was also the end of another founding and
original member of the Medicine Crew.
Bill Vaughn played his last show on the keys. Bill had become a great friend and remains
close to us, as has Scott Ledbetter!
Starting the
08 year we welcomed
In October of
08 Andy Wyant said goodbye and we welcomed in David Stultz on the bass.
October of 08
was also the Evansville Nut Club Fall Festival.
We were selected to close the event and played to thousands at the
festival. One of my favorite all time
shows.
New Years 08
was one of my most bittersweet memories of the band. It was the final go round for Derick Donovan
and
January of
2009 was perhaps one of the most exciting times in the bands history. We set out with a bass player that had been
with us for two months, and brought in a new drummer and guitar player. We brought in longtime soundman/Drummer Brad
Laughlin to the kit. Brad brought many
years of road experience on the drums and was most recently with Whyy
Nott. We also welcomed long time
guitarist for Tim and the Tomcats…..Gib Catiller to the band. It was really the first time we felt like we
had started a totally new chapter in the band.
July 2010 was
a great time for us. We played the 4th
of July at the Downtown Riverfront Pavilion to a massive crowd after the parade and up
to the fireworks. Great show!!
September of
2010 was a very cool time in the bands history as well. Not only were we playing for thousands at the
Vincennes Homecoming at the Riverfront Pavilion we welcomed back Derick and
Bill to the stage to jam with us for a set.
Unfortunately we got about half way thru the set and the power went out
in most of the city!!! It shut us down
for the night!!
December of
2010 saw an 8 year run of NYE shows come to an end thanks in large part to
being screwed over by a bar that will remain nameless! It also marked the end of a 2 year run with
David Stultz on the bass. Dave has
become a great friend and will be missed by all of us.
That led us
to the luck of finding Mike Wehrman who was looking to get back out and start
playing again. Mike was a former bassist
and singer for the well known Atomic Farmboyz. He has been away for a good while but is back
and ready to go. We spent most of
December and the first part of January working with him! The guy is a great musician and incredible
vocalist. It has lit a fire back into
the band!! We are looking forward to
getting out in 2011 and rocking the old fans of Bad Medicine and hopefully
bringing some new faces along for the ride!!
I promise we will be better than ever!!
LOOKING
FORWARD TO ROCKING IN 2011 WITH ALL OF YOU!!!!
